A very creative February for Hobbyist

Hi hi — happy last day of February!
This month had some crazy creative momentum and time spent with new faces – beating the febraury blues with crafts, just the way I like it.

THIS MONTH WE:
Celebrated a few birthdays with painting workshops
Had our first Brussels Makers Market of 2026
Hosted a corporate Creative Hour for team building over watercolor cards
Partnered with La Belladone for a pop-up watercolor afternoon – a major highlight so far this year

WHAT I’M MAKING

Doodling a mini series of some of my favorite spots around Brussels – the first one was a street sketch of La Belladone in Saint Gilles, and next on my list is a familiar wine bar nearby you may know. We released these at the pop-up watercolor event at La Belladone and they turned out so cool!

I designed a set of baby welcome cards for the lovely Danielle and her sweet new baby boy – I loved working with Danielle and her vision for a wilderness landscape theme card inspired by Winnie the Pooh.
This month I’m also getting back into sewing! It’s been awhile since I tried a new sewing project, let’s see how it goes…
CREATIVE THINGS I’M LOVING
Seeing Sting’s musical The Last Ship in Amsterdam last month – yes you read that right, and Sting rocked it.
Internet obsession: 3D embroidery vegetables
My growing collection of handmade wool socks — most recent addition from my Aunt Jean 🤍
CURRENT HOBBY HYPERFIXATION: READING
January wrapped with The Dutch House – enjoyed overall. I loved the sibling dynamic, and the story really brought me in as it slowly unfolded. Intriguing but calm.
Recommend? Yes.
Next read: Project Hail Mary — something very different than anything I’ve ever read, and after a few chapters I can say I’m optimistic. I feel like I’m reading a crazy space movie script (which I sort of am, because the movie version is coming out soon)
UPCOMING
• La Belladone pop-up — March date to be confirmed
• Brussels Makers Market — April 7
Thanks for being here and supporting Hobbyist in all its small, lovely, growing ways. It really means a lot 🤗
